Class News 2007

1926

Mary Morrisey Heverin's daughter writes to us that Mary was 103 on March 27, 2007. She writes that her mother dearly loved her sororoity sisters. (The XEO Alumnae Association sent her a bouquet of flowers to commmemorate her birthday.)

1945

Mary Curran O'Connor passed away in September, 2006. Her daughter tells us that she was ever the teacher, even donating her body to the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in order that future generations may learn from her passing. She leaves behind 6 children and 7 grandchildren.

1946

Joyce McDonald O'Dea writes to tell us that members of the 1946 class have been meeting spring and fall for many years. They are all fully functioning and are 82 years old! The ladies are all members of the class of 1946 and were members of several sororities. They are: XEO sisters Joyce and Marie Liebl Muller, Winnie Lukoski and Genevieve Sabatini Leone of Psi Gam, Jean Whitney Sampson and Peggy Casey Hess of BZ, and Eloise Crump Terho and Arlene Skinner Lomber of KD.

1956

Elizabeth DeSimone has retired from GE and spends her winters in Marco Island, Florida. She would love to hear from classmates. (I have a phone number for her and an email address. If anyone would like it, let me know. --Michele)

1957

Marilyn DeSanta DeLorenzo retired from full-time teaching at SUNY Cortland in 1999 and from part-time teaching in 2006. She is doing a lot of traveling with Marilyn Leach Causey, class of 1958. She is enjoying her two grandsons and doing some volunteering.

1964

Barbara Kittelberger Haines died last year of ovarian cancer. Barbara was smart, friendly, successful and very active. She was a city girl who learned to love the country. She loved skiing, riding and her soulmate of 25 years-- Richard Haines. She had many friends in New York, Atlanta and Bozeman, MT. She had a certain sparkle and elegance that epitomized the Chi Sigma Theta woman. She felt very strongly that all women should take an active roll in their health care, as ovarian cancer is a silent killer.

1966

Fran Naccarato writes that it was wonderful to see her classmates at the reunion in June, 2006. Andrea Cooper is still working as a financial advisor with Smith Barney and for the last 20 years, she has been travelling extensively throughout Europe, Asia and Australia.

1968

Rosemarie Vairo Rosen has retired from NYSUT in July, 2007.

1970

Dr. Phyllis Glassman has been selected as the next Superintendent of Schools in the Ossining School District in Westchester County.

1972

Ruth Bigelow Kartalis has written that she ran into Catherine Bertini '71 in Binghamton. Ruth's son-in-law was sworn in as a US citizen, (He's Canadian.), and Catherine was the keynote speaker. Ruth is currently the Microcomputer Decision Support Specialist for the Orchard Park school system outside of Buffalo. She is working on her second Master's Degree so that she can be certified as a School District Administrator. Vickie Parshall tells us that she met with her former suitemates in Fredericksburg, VA at Mr. T's for a mini-reunion October, 2007. It had been 25 years since they had met. They were: Pat Areno, who lives in Woodbridge, VA, Vickie, who lives in Alexandria, VA, Zoe Souza Smith, who lives outside Williamsburg, VA and Randa Globerman '71, who still lives in NYC. Vickie sends out this message from Pat Enright: your mother wants to know where you are and if you can join in the next mini-reunion for Suite 303.

1974

Caryn Goldberg is a clinical psychologist in private practice in Boynton Beach, FL. Jan Sommers Gallant writes that her son Corey is currently attending Albany, and it was thrilling for her to be back on campus after 30 years. She is still in touch with Marjorie Altman Tesser and Susan Price Mostel '73.

1977

Allison Berg Khan keeps in touch with Mary Bonafide Hunt. Allison tells us that her son Chris and wife, Loretta have been transferred to Tennessee. She is a step-grandmother to Kali, 13 and Zach, 8. She is currently living in Troy, NY and would love to hear from some old friends. (I have her address --Michele)

1979

Bonnie Gottlieb Isaacson has a daughter Alana, who is graduating high school in 2007.
